Reading Wonders on Kahoot

So I know a lot of people are already using Kahoot and I'm not going to do a blog post on it. There are plenty of good ones out there. We used Kahoot last year and my kids begged to play it, but I was usually flying by the seat of my pants to create quizzes.

I'm devoting at least some of my summer to working with Kahoot and creating quizzes. Specifically I'm making Kahoots for the Reading Wonders series. I have the first unit done with matching vocabulary and definition, fill-in-the-blank with vocabulary words, picking the correctly spelled spelling word, and fill-in-the-blank with the correct spelling word. If you are interested head on over to Kahoot and type in Reading Wonders in the search for Public Kahoots. My username is bcbirrer so you can add that in to help narrow the search.

Spelling City: My Hero

So I like using Spelling City because my kids enjoy the games. What makes me even happier is I don't have to reinvent the wheel. They've already got my spelling lists for me! 

Once you get to the webpage, click on the search tab at the top. That will bring you to this page: 

On the left side you see the yellow/orange (not sure how to classify that really) and that has popular series lists. 

I clicked on Reading Wonders to get to my series. 

The blue box has all the lists and even includes, approaching and beyond level. Once you find the set you want (I use the 3rd grade on-level) just click and it will bring up all the stories. 

Click games and you are ready to roll. I'll also link the games page to my website. I don't have to enter anything. I don't have to think about questions. It's done for me! I love saving my time and effort. 

Wordless Wednesday: Focus Wall

Two posts in one day! Say what??? For this post I'm linking up to Miss DeCarbo at Sugar and Spice's Wordless Wednesday.

Certain things have to be cute in my classroom. Certain things have to match. I'm pretty sure there is a law.  This week I managed to start on matching sets for my focus wall, because I have been pulling resources from everywhere  this year (yay new series) and nothing matched. So matching focus wall pieces is my new hobby.
